Two very different films over the weekend.
Pretty Woman - me and Shell have been saying we need to rewatch this for ages and it appeared on Sony Movie Channel(Fast becoming one of my favourite channels, as the old movies they now show are from my teenage years). Still a fantastic fairy-tale movie, it is no surprise that Julia Roberts shot to stardom after this, innocent, funny, hurting, vulnerable, strong-minded - she portrayed all aspects of Vivienne's characters perfectly. A 1990's film that has aged well - much better than I have!
The Thing - not the classic but the 2011 remake - well it is on Netflix and I needed something I could do work whilst watching. Not as great as the first, but Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton are strong leads and it has Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) from NCIS Los Angeles in, as well as Tormund (Kristofer Hivju) from Game of Thrones, so what's not to like!
The story is basically the same as the 19882 film but links nicely into it as well. Not a great film, but if you have some Maths planning to do, it is a nice little accompaniment.
Just goes to show you don't need to go new to enjoy a film.
